Beer Sheet Filters
Sheet filtration is a traditional and simple process requiring very little training. The beer is pumped through filter sheets available in different porosity grades. The beer passes once through one sheet.
However it has cost and process limitations as it is relatively costly in sheet consumption costs especially for the larger brewery and the sheets are not tolerant to an unexpectedly high level of solids and could block. This entails sheet replacement – a cost in sheets and time.
The filters are available in 40 x 40 cm and 60 x 60 cm formats and can take up to 100 sheets. The frame is sized to match the required throughput.
An option is the use of an Inversion or Change-over plate enabling the filtration through 2 differnt grades of sheet in one pass e.g. first through a medium grade and then through a fine or sterile grade.
We recommend sheet filtration up to batches of 1000 litres (10 hl, 6 UK barrels).
“Sterile” sheets are available to give sterility.
